Senior Account Executive, PR/Media Relations

The Position

A strong Senior Account Executive for Media Relations is skilled in the full range of PR strategies and tactics (including but not limited to press releases, media relations, collateral development, thought leadership, corporate communications, community relations programs) with a strong focus on developing and executing compelling media relations and PR programming for our clients. We’re looking for a strategic thinker who understands PR/communication’s role and impact and who has demonstrated experience in the development and execution of PR programs, particularly in the context of integrated engagements.

  • Build,  maintain and grow relationships between assigned clients and the agency 
  • Serve as the day-to-day media liaison with key media contacts, cultivating these relationships and identifying opportunities based on client objectives and media opportunities
  • Help draft concise and specific briefs to drive project direction 
  • Manage execution of PR/media relations projects to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery 
  • Maintain all client and internal documentation following established processes, including timely reporting 
  • Support profitability of accounts through appropriate resourcing and budget management

The Work

  • Serve as the main client liaison, responsible for overseeing the strategy, budget, timeline and plans on assigned clients
  • Understand clients’ needs, business structure and industry landscape to bring credible and consultative solutions forward – a strategic advisor and partner for internal team and client
  • Assist in formulating media relations, PR, communications plans and strategies for clients
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver strategic and creative PR work for clients
  • Gather information and research, leveraging web-based PR and media research resources
  • Conduct media monitoring inclusive of identifying trends and developing reports for clients
  • Identify opportunities for media placements and create and manage editorial calendars
  • Build relationships with local, national, and trade media and/or bloggers
  • Write, edit and proofread materials including media materials, collateral, fact sheets and client reports/correspondences
  • Regularly monitor and create ROI and performance reports for PR, media relations and communications work
  • Monitor PR channels on a daily basis for latest trends and case studies

The Essentials

  • Experience
    • 4+ years PR/media relations experience working on multi-disciplinary (holistic) communication initiatives
    • Budget development and management experience
    • Agency experience preferred
    • Experience working on healthcare/B2B brands strongly preferred
    • BA or BS in PR/Media Relations, Communications, Marketing or related degree
  • Skills
    • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful PR and media  relations programs
    • Understanding of how PR, communications, creative and media work together
    • Recognition of how audiences and influencers interact with channels and technology
    • Strong interpersonal, communications and presentation skills: verbal, written and over the phone
    • Superior organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
    • Experience working with monitoring and analytical tools 
    • Ability to synthesize data and derive insights

Position details: Full time exempt

Location: Hybrid role – remote with some travel to Nashville office (onboarding + quarterly meeting) and client meetings (as needed)
