Account Director, PR/Media Relations
The Position
The Account Director is an integral part of our PR/Media Relations team serving as a key day-to-day client contact to ensure seamless collaboration between our internal teams and external stakeholders. This dynamic individual is a results-driven leader with a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, a passion for storytelling, a love for building relationships, and an expert in project management. The candidate will be able to adapt to any situation to capitalize on opportunities that benefit our clients, team, and agency.
The candidate will stay abreast of the latest PR tactics and the evolving media landscape that drive meaningful coverage for our clients and agency. This individual can simplify the complex, delegate and execute the work, predict what’s next, and systemize processes to allow teams to work more effectively based on client goals and objectives.

The Work
- Client Leadership
- Build, maintain, and grow trusted client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact and an advisor to clients offering strategic council, industry insights, and recommendations
- Manage client communications, providing timely updates, addressing concerns and anticipating needs
- Lead client meetings with confidence including preparing agendas, assigning roles and drafting follow-up recaps
- Serve as both a client lead or support team member on cross-functional teams fostering collaboration and accountability across marketing, digital, and PR teams
- Proactively flag challenges and barriers to leadership
- Project Management
- Develop and maintain project timelines and tasks within the agency’s project management system, Monday.com, ensuring on-time delivery of high quality work across campaigns and initiatives
- Ensure internal teams have what they need to deliver on scopes via briefs, input documents, internal reviews, and change requests
- Track, maintain, and organize client documents, assets, and deliverables
- Evaluate work against strategy, direction, and clients’ brand guidelines
- Stay abreast of clients’ brand/marketing, products/services, competitors, and market trends
- Media Relations
- Develop and execute PR, media relations, and marcom projects and campaigns
- Build relationships with relevant media outlets to secure high-value media coverage on behalf of clients
- Manage resourcing balancing internal team bandwidth with external freelancers
- Development of high quality content including press releases, pitches, bylines, thought leadership pieces, blogs, podcast scripts, content briefs, Q&A answers, SME quotes, fact sheets, agendas, recaps, reports, newsletters, and award submissions
- Media placement tracking and reporting with insights and analysis for clients
- Media lists and database management
- Ensure all deliverables are aligned with brand messaging, and are delivered on time and in “client-ready” format
- Stay current on industry and media trends
The Essentials
Position Details: Full-time exempt
Location: Remote (occasional travel for team meetings, conferences, client/industry events)
- Experience
- BA or BS in PR/Media Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 7-10 years experience (must have agency experience)
- Preferred experience with media databases and reporting tools (Meltwater, Muck Rack, or Cision)
- Skills
- Understanding of how PR, social media, marketing, and creative work together
- Ability to work efficiently while managing multiple projects
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Superior organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
